SEVA cup 2009 - It will be held the weekend 25 / 26th at Ashcombe and we will also be using the court at Friends Provident. As previous stated the Saturday will be 25 minute single set timed matches. The Semi finals and finals to be held on the Sunday will be 5 set as per national league and some local leagues. Additional on the Sunday from 1pm we will be holding a junior competition for U17 Boys and U16 Girls. (please note:- I am still looking for a court so that there can be a training session for the other juniors and I will update the junior coaches as and when I have details) Juniors In terms of Juniors I would like the County representative to confirm to me that they have a team to enter and I will need contact details for that team. There is no entry fee for the junior competition. For the Juniors all players must be eligible and willing to play for the South East region if selected, where a club sit on the boarder with another region, can the counties please establish that the juniors face and are part of the SEVA junior development program and are NOT participating in one of the other Regional development squads. I am sorry but this junior tournament is being run for the benefit of the South East Juniors Adults The selection of teams for the competition will be the same as in previous years in that we are inviting the 10 teams each for the men’s and ladies competitions (As nominated by the county associations. Usually 1st and 2nd in the local league). The teams will be divided into two pools. Within each pool, every team play every other team in timed one set matches. The top 2 teams in each pool will be invited to play on the Sunday for the Semi finals and Finals. Semi Finals and Finals will be best of 5 sets. Teams are invited from Sussex, Surrey, Kent, Berkshire, and Hampshire each County being offered two places each in the men’s and ladies competition. If a County has two local leagues then it the local leagues responsibility to nominate county champions. In terms of Referees the tournament will be self-referring and teams must provide a First / Second ref / Scorer and line judges unless a workshop is run The winners of both Men’s and Ladies competitions will be nominated to represent SEVA at the Regional Champions trophy which is being held the following weekend on the 16th May & 17 May. Should the winners not be available the place will be offered to the second place team. I would like the counties association to request, confirm, and pay a deposit of £30 for the number of places required by Fri 6th Mar. This is important we need to confirm the court bookings as soon as possible. This deposit unfortunately will be non returnable. The Total Cost will be £50 Should there be any spare places then I will request wild card teams to fill the places. |
