Seva Cup 2008 Results

E-mail Print PDF

Congratulations to Ealing Energy and Worthing Vipers who ran out winners of the Mens and Ladies SEVA Cup 2008.

On a blistering hot day some first class volleyball was played with the group stages of the competition throwing up some very close matches which meant the margin of who actually progressed into the finals and who played in the third / fourth play off was very slim.

Ashcombe success at National Cup finals

National Cup FinalsAshcombe volleyball club, with its junior base at Durrington High School, won their way to 3 national volleyball finals last weekend. The Under 16 team which has only one non Durrington High School player, beat opposition from Wiltshire, Essex, Birmingham and Manchester beating old rivals Tameside in the semi final. Captained by Izzy Fumagalli, the tall Ashcombe team dominated the net. Confident blocking and spiking by Hannah Carey, Georgia Bird and Sabrina Farley, kept the pressure on the opposition. Libero player Beth Taylor passed and defended with accuracy allowing  Izzy Fumagalli and Lucy Pierce to use a variety of options in the net play.

Regional club league proposed

E-mail Print PDF
At a recent SEVA committee meeting the idea of a regional adult club league was suggested. The committee thought this was a good idea and would like to guage the interest of such a league.

In order for it to run we need a volunteer who would be willing to liase with interested clubs and run the league.

If anyone is interested please would they contact Secretary Julie Garrard.

Commitee Appointments

E-mail Print PDF
By now most of the counties AGM's will have taken place across the south east. We would like to invite input from the nominated SEVA representatives to the SEVA committee. County committees can appoint whoever they like to the SEVA committee, it does not have to be the chairman. We would however, like to have contact with the chairman of each county association as and when required.

We are also planning a meeting/AGM on 2nd Sept at the SEVA cup to which all are welcome to attend.

Regards,
Julie Garrard
